Why We Built This Site
Tennessee makes many criminal-history sources public, yet no single Franklin County office holds the whole story. The Sheriff's Office maintains county booking and jail material. The Circuit Court Clerk keeps filed charges, dockets, judgments, and dispositions for Circuit and General Sessions matters. TBI operates the statewide repository and TORIS name checks, TDOC supplies felony custody information through FOIL, and TBI also manages the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. We organize the verified contacts, public search tools, published fees, and request routes for those distinct custodians.
What You Will Find Here
- Official-check explanations: how TBI name checks and fingerprint-based self-review follow different routes
- Record guides: how court case records are found and read in Franklin County
- Record-clearing information: where a Tennessee expungement request begins and why the court order matters
- Custodian contacts: how to reach the Sheriff's Office, Circuit Court Clerk, TBI, TDOC, and registry system
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, with no affiliation to a Tennessee court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Those boundaries mean:
- We do not issue certified court papers, criminal records, or repository histories
- We cannot submit records requests, expungement papers, or other filings for a reader
- We do not perform official background checks or retrieve a person's record
- We cannot interpret a charge or case as legal advice
- We cannot promise that an agency's published fee, address, or telephone number will never change
An official copy must come from its custodian, such as the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the court clerk, or TBI. We can identify that office but cannot supply the record.
Search Partners
Outside companies power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, prices, and results. We may receive a referral fee when a search leads to a paid enrollment, which helps fund free access to this reference. We neither set a partner's charges nor control the records it returns.
